Website Accessibility Policy
Last updated: 1st August 2026
1. Our commitment to accessibility
We are committed to making this website as accessible and usable as reasonably possible for all visitors.
We recognise that people access websites in different ways and may use a range of devices, browsers and assistive technologies. We aim to create and maintain a website that is clear, understandable and usable by as many people as possible.
Accessibility is an ongoing process. We will continue to review and improve the website as content, technology and our understanding of accessibility develop.
2. Our accessibility approach
This website is built and hosted using Squarespace.
Some aspects of the website's accessibility are determined by the Squarespace platform and its templates, while others are directly influenced by how we create, structure, and publish content.
Within the areas we control, we aim to:
use clear and understandable language where appropriate;
structure content using meaningful headings;
provide logical and consistent navigation;
use descriptive links where practical;
ensure that text can be read without relying solely on colour;
provide alternative text for meaningful images where appropriate;
consider colour contrast and readability;
avoid unnecessary flashing, movement or distracting animation;
make the website usable across a range of screen sizes and devices;
consider keyboard navigation when adding or changing content;
provide captions, transcripts or alternative formats for audio and video where reasonably practical;
avoid unnecessarily complex layouts or interactions; and
review new content and significant changes with accessibility in mind.
3. Accessibility standards
We aim to work towards the principles of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), particularly the four principles that web content should be:
Perceivable
Information and content should be presented in ways that visitors can perceive, including through sight, sound or assistive technologies.
Operable
Visitors should be able to navigate and interact with the website using different methods, including a keyboard where supported.
Understandable
Content, navigation and interactions should be as clear and predictable as reasonably possible.
Robust
The website should work across a range of browsers, devices and assistive technologies.
Our aim is to make reasonable efforts towards WCAG 2.2 Level AA where this is practical and proportionate to the nature and resources of the website.
This policy should not be interpreted as a claim that every page or feature currently conforms fully to WCAG 2.2 AA.
4. Images and visual content
We use images and other visual material on the website.
Where an image provides meaningful information, we will provide appropriate alternative text so people using screen readers or other assistive technologies can understand the image's purpose or content.
Decorative images may not require alternative descriptions where they do not add meaningful information.
We will aim to avoid communicating important information solely through images, colour or visual presentation where a text alternative can reasonably be provided.
5. Text and content
We aim to make written content as clear and accessible as reasonably possible.
Where appropriate, we will:
use meaningful page titles and headings;
structure longer content into manageable sections;
avoid unnecessarily complicated language;
explain specialist terminology where it may not be familiar to the intended audience;
use descriptive link text where practical;
avoid relying solely on phrases such as “click here” when a more descriptive link is possible; and
provide information in text form where important information might otherwise only be available visually.
Some content may necessarily use specialist, academic, technical or historical language. In these circumstances, we will aim to provide sufficient context to help readers understand the material.
6. Video, audio and multimedia
Where reasonably practical, we will seek to make multimedia content more accessible.
Depending on the nature and purpose of the content, this may include:
captions for video;
transcripts for audio content;
written summaries;
clear descriptions of important visual information; or
alternative formats where available.
We recognise that providing fully accessible alternatives for all historical or existing multimedia content may not always be immediately possible. We will prioritise new content and significant updates while seeking to improve older material over time.
7. Navigation and interaction
We aim to provide a website that is straightforward to navigate.
We will seek to:
maintain consistent navigation where practical;
use clear labels for menus and links;
avoid unnecessary navigation steps;
ensure that visitors can identify where they are within the website;
avoid interactions that depend exclusively on a mouse, touch screen or other single method of input where we have control over the feature; and
consider keyboard accessibility when selecting or implementing additional website features.
Some interactive functionality may be provided by Squarespace or third-party services and may therefore be outside our direct control.
8. Colour, contrast and visual design
We aim to ensure that text and important visual elements are reasonably easy to see and distinguish.
Where practical, we will:
consider colour contrast between text and backgrounds;
avoid using colour as the only way of communicating important information;
use legible fonts and appropriate text sizes;
provide sufficient spacing between content where possible; and
avoid visual effects that make content unnecessarily difficult to read.
Visitors may also be able to adjust text size, contrast or other display settings using their browser, device or assistive technology.
9. Documents and downloadable content
Where we provide downloadable documents, we will seek to make new documents accessible where reasonably practical.
This may include:
using meaningful document titles and headings;
ensuring that text can be selected and read by assistive technology;
avoiding image-only documents where a text-based alternative is possible;
using appropriate reading order and document structure; and
providing alternative formats on request where reasonably possible.
Some older or third-party documents may not meet current accessibility expectations.
If you require information from a document in a different format, please contact us using the details below.
10. Third-party content and Squarespace limitations
This website uses Squarespace as its website platform and may also include content or services provided by third parties.
While we seek to make informed choices about the services and features we use, we do not have complete control over:
the underlying Squarespace platform;
third-party plugins or integrations;
embedded content;
social media platforms;
payment providers; or
content hosted on external websites.
Where we identify an accessibility problem involving a feature outside our direct control, we will consider whether an alternative solution or method of providing the information is available.
11. Known limitations
We recognise that some parts of the website may not yet be fully accessible.
Potential limitations may include:
older content that was created before current accessibility practices were adopted;
third-party embedded content;
features provided by Squarespace that we cannot directly modify;
downloadable documents created by third parties;
historical images or media where complete alternative descriptions are not available; and
occasional issues that arise when website technology or browsers are updated.
We will seek to address significant accessibility issues when identified and when reasonably practical to do so.
12. Feedback and accessibility requests
We welcome feedback on the accessibility of this website.
If you experience difficulty accessing any part of the website, require information in a different format, or identify an accessibility problem, please contact us.
When contacting us, it may be helpful to tell us:
the page or content you were trying to access;
the nature of the problem;
the device, browser or assistive technology you were using, if you are comfortable providing this information; and
the format in which you would prefer to receive the information.
We will consider reasonable requests for alternative formats and will aim to respond as soon as reasonably possible.

13. Ongoing review
We will review the accessibility of this website periodically and when making significant changes to its design, structure or functionality.
Our review may include:
checking page structure and headings;
reviewing alternative text for important images;
checking colour contrast and readability;
testing keyboard navigation where relevant;
reviewing new plugins, integrations and embedded content;
considering feedback from visitors; and
reviewing the accessibility of new documents and multimedia.
Where resources allow, we may also use automated accessibility testing tools alongside manual checks.
We recognise that automated testing cannot identify every accessibility issue and does not replace the experience and feedback of people who use assistive technologies.
14. Our commitment to improvement
Accessibility is not something that can be achieved once and then forgotten.
As this website develops, we will continue to consider accessibility when:
creating new pages and content;
selecting images and media;
adding documents;
changing the design;
introducing new functionality; and
selecting third-party services.
Where accessibility issues are identified, we will seek to prioritise those that have the greatest impact on visitors' ability to access information and use the website.
15. Review of this policy
This policy will be reviewed at least every two years, or sooner if there are significant changes to the website, relevant accessibility standards or our approach to accessibility.
Next scheduled review: 1st August 2028
Our guiding principle
We aim to make this website as clear, usable and accessible as reasonably possible, recognising that accessibility is an ongoing responsibility and that there is always room to learn and improve.
